Anshe Chesed of Linden welcomed their 5785 rabbinic intern, Rabbi Brian Chernigoff, and his wife, Haviva, this past Shabbat. Originally from Kew Gardens Hills, Queens, Rabbi Chernigoff is currently a scholar at Yeshiva University’s prestigious Kollel Elyon and is pursuing a master’s degree in Jewish history from Bernard Revel Graduate School. Haviva is from Boca Raton and is the program coordinator for the Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies (GPATS) and also serves as a community happiness coordinator for Daily Giving.
Rabbi Chernigoff spoke multiple times throughout Shabbat, beginning with a dvar Torah after Kabbalat Shabbat, followed by discussions at the Oneg Shabbat and a shiur combining history and Halacha before Mincha. He concluded Shabbat with a sicha during seudat shlishit.
“Rabbi Chernigoff impressed us all with his eloquence, passion for Torah and genuine warmth. His proactive approach in meeting and building relationships within our community was particularly notable; he made a point to introduce himself and speak with many members throughout the day,” remarked Rabbi Katz. “We are thrilled to have Rabbi Chernigoff with us and are grateful to RIETS — especially Rabbi Neil Turk and Rabbi Zev Goldberg — for partnering with us and providing such valuable resources to our community.”
